3 – A walk in Kimono “Kaga-yuzen”

The Kaga Yusen Traditional Industry Center offers the possibility to rent a Kimono made using the regional Kaga-yusen technique. Rental is either for an hour (¥4500) or three hours (¥6000) and includes a photo as a souvenir.

Just a few minutes away from the Kenroku-en and only 50 meters from the Gyokusen-en, three hours is long enough to stroll through the Kenroku-en and enjoy the tea ceremony in the Gyokusen-en, dressed in a Kimono!

In summer (July to mid-September), when it is usually too hot to wear a silk Kimono, you may prefer a cotton Yukata (¥4500) for the day, which can be handed in to your hotels’ reception the next morning. This allows you to visit the Kenroku-en during the nocturnal summer festivals.

Dressing times Assisted by one of the staff, it takes about 20 minutes to change into the Kimono (there are three staff so there may be some wait for large groups). Mens’ Kimonos are available and take much less time to put on.
Entry Fee ¥300 per adult, ¥200 per child, ¥50 less each for groups of 20 or more
